Running back Peyton Barber played in one Iron Bowl for Auburn. Nine of his new teammates with the Washington Redskins were on the Alabama roster for that game — a 29-13 victory for the Crimson Tide over the Tigers in 2015.

“Oh man, I was thinking about that the other day,” Barber said about joining the NFL team with the most Alabama alumni. “I think it’ll be fun, especially when the Iron Bowl time rolls around.”

After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Barber is joining Washington as an unrestricted free agent for a two-year, $3 million contract that includes $600,000 in guaranteed money.

“It’s definitely a huge culture shock, but at the end of the day this is nothing new to me,” Barber said during an interview for the Redskins’ official website. “I’ve done this all my life, so change is good sometimes – you know? – so I’m ready and excited for what’s to come.”

Washington’s roster includes defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, outside linebacker Authentic Ryan Anderson Jersey, inside linebacker Authentic Reuben Foster Jersey, inside linebacker Authentic Shaun Dion Hamilton Jersey, tight end Hale Hentges, defensive lineman Daron Payne, center Ross Pierschbacher, wide receiver Authentic Cam Sims Jersey and safety Authentic Maurice Smith Jersey. They were on the opposite side of the field from Barber at the 2015 Iron Bowl. Redskins safety Authentic Landon Collins Jersey also is an Alabama alumnus, but he already had reached the NFL in 2015.

In 2019, Barber started the first seven games of the season before Ronald Jones took over as Tampa Bay’s No. 1 running back. Barber ran for 470 yards and six touchdowns on 154 carries and caught 16 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown last season.

Adrian Peterson led Washington with 898 yards and five touchdowns on 211 rushing attempts in 2019, when the Redskins’ 3-13 record was the worst in the NFC.

Washington expects to have running backs Derrius Guice, who played in five games in 2019, and Bryce Love, who missed the entire season, back from injury for 2020. The Redskins also brought former Central-Phenix City standout J.D. McKissic into their running-backs room via free agency.

Peterson will enter the 2020 season at 35 years old with 14,216 rushing yards, the fifth-most in NFL history.

“I’m excited,” Barber said about playing with Peterson. “I’ve never gotten the chance to really meet him in person. Every time we’ve played them, I’ve kind of been a little star-struck and gotten kind of nervous to go up and talk to him, so I’m excited to learn from him, pick his brain.”

Despite being held to 29 yards on eight carries in the 2015 Iron Bowl, Barber ran for 1,047 yards and 13 touchdowns for Auburn that season. But Barber left the Tigers with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie and was cut by the Buccaneers at the end of his first preseason. Tampa Bay re-signed Barber for its practice squad, and before the first game of the season, he’d been promoted to the active roster.

Barber stayed there throughout 2016, even getting a starting assignment because of injuries. Barber had 55 rushing attempts for 223 yards and one touchdown – a 44-yard run on his 10th NFL carry. He also caught five passes for 28 yards in 2016.

In his second NFL season, Barber got the chance to play down the stretch for the Buccaneers and produced 335 yards and one touchdown on 78 carries and 83 yards on 12 receptions in the final five games of 2017. He’d played 69 snaps and carried the ball 28 times in the first 11 games of the season. In Game 12, he ran for 102 yards on 23 carries for his first 100-yard game in the NFL and caught four passes for 41 yards against the Green Bay Packers.

In his third NFL season, Barber served as the Buccaneers’ No. 1 running back. He started every game and ran for 871 yards (10th in the NFC) and five touchdowns on 234 carries in 2018. He also caught 20 passes for 92 yards and one TD.

When Barber came out of the lineup for Jones in 2019, it ended a streak of 26 consecutive starts in the Tampa Bay backfield.

“I just feel like with Tampa, not to say anything bad or anything against them because I loved my time while I was here, but I wasn’t utilized enough,” Barber said. “Like I said, I’m looking forward to what’s to come. I feel like I’m an every-down back. I can catch the ball, I can block, I can run. Anything you need me to do, I can pretty much do, and I’m durable.”

Normally, Barber would be preparing to open Washington’s offseason program on April 6. But that portion of the NFL’s calendar is on hold during the coronavirus crisis.

“It’s been pretty hard to find fields to train at, but we’re making due with what we got,” Barber said of his preparations for the 2020 season. “… I’m still down here in Tampa, so I’m really just going out, finding parks that we can train at and really just keeping my body in shape and keep my head space right.”

Official Redskins Reuben Foster Jersey Fast Free Shipping

When a team goes 3-13 one year, there should be lots of roster turnover before the next season begins.

But when that team also hires a new head coach and then adds 10-plus guys through free agency and trades, it’s easy to imagine more churn than normal. That, of course, means that some notable players from the season before will be let go.

On Monday, the Redskins released one such player in Montae Nicholson. He likely won’t be the last familiar face to be shown the door.

With that in mind, here are more notable members of the Burgundy and Gold whose roster spots now feel shakier thanks to Ron Rivera’s arrival and his ensuing, busy free agency period.

The in-house linebackers
Rivera and the Redskins have brought in Thomas Davis and Authentic Kevin Pierre-Louis Jersey at linebacker, with the former slotting in as a starter and the latter having a chance to compete for the same role. Authentic Cole Holcomb Jersey and Authentic Jon Bostic Jersey should still have very safe futures, but the options behind them face uncertainty now.

Those options include Authentic Shaun Dion Hamilton Jersey, Authentic Reuben Foster Jersey and Authentic Josh Harvey-Clemons Jersey. Hamilton and Harvey-Clemons are draft pick holdovers from the previous regime, while Foster could be looking at a lengthy and difficult recovery from his 2019 knee injury.

Come training camp, whenever that may be, the battle at linebacker figures to be an intense one. By the end of it, at least one recognizable defender will be left out, if not more.

Geron Christian
Christian is a 2018 third-round pick who’s taken longer to develop than the franchise would like to admit. That’s likely a big reason why the Redskins opted to sign Cornelius Lucas, a veteran who has experience at both tackle spots as a pro.

If Christian had shown more promise in his first two seasons, then Lucas may not be in town. In fact, if Christian had shown a lot more promise, then there wouldn’t be so much concern about replacing Trent Williams.

Regardless, Christian’s past can’t be changed. It’ll be on him to improve now, or else his disappointing career could soon hit its lowest point.

Jeremy Sprinkle
Much like the current linebackers and Christian, Sprinkle’s no doubt feeling the heat after what Washington’s done in free agency. So far, the organization has brought in both Logan Thomas and Richard Rodgers, and they still have the draft to address tight end further.

Sprinkle is fine as long as he’s depth at the position, but his shaky hands and lack of speed limit his role beyond that. Plus, his cap hit is about to triple because he’s entering the last year of his rookie deal.

Ultimately, it’s unclear if he’ll even reach that point with the Redskins.

A promising young running back?
The players mentioned above are on obviously unsteady ground, while the ones who are about to be mentioned don’t appear to be in nearly as much danger. For now, at least.

When healthy, Derrius Guice and Bryce Love could really make a difference in the Redskins’ offense. Guice has already displayed that on the NFL level, while Love’s skill set and college production are indicators he could, too. Yet durability is still a question for both.

Some have wondered why Rivera and Co. have inked both JD McKissic and Peyton Barber to contracts, but in doing so, he’s given himself and his team additional bodies in the backfield should Guice or Love run into trouble.

Those two should be roster locks if they’re healthy when football picks up again, but they now have to look over their shoulders a bit because of McKissic and Barber’s presence.

Throwback Womens Redskins Cameron Malveaux Jersey

In a day dedicated to the future with the firing of Bruce Allen and others, the Washington Redskins quietly made some moves behind the scenes on the players front.

For now, said moves don’t have to do with heavyweight names such as Trent Williams or Josh Norman. Instead, the team announced the signing of five players to reserve/future contracts:

T Paul Adams
DE Authentic Ryan Bee Jersey
WR Emanuel Hall
DE Authentic Cameron Malveaux Jersey
WR Authentic Jordan Veasy Jersey
Now is the time when teams move to hoard as much long-term talent as possible. Plenty of roster change will still occur as markets open and drafts occur, but these names might stick around because the front office saw something it liked.

Authentic Redskins Jeremy Vujnovich Jersey Paypal

By saying no to Cam Newton and committing to a quarterback battle between Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen, the Washington Redskins appear to be building an offense for the future rather than making win-now moves that would emphasize chasing victories this fall.

Maybe it would have been different if they had landed wide receiver Amari Cooper or tight end Austin Hooper in the first hours of free agency. They reached big for Cooper, reportedly offering more than the $100 million the Dallas Cowboys paid to keep him, and Hooper said Washington’s bid was second to the one the former Atlanta Falcons standout accepted from the Cleveland Browns.

Left without either top choice, new Redskins coach Ron Rivera and vice president of player personnel Kyle Smith quietly added depth and experience to a defense that will rely on an already-powerful front. Whenever football starts, the beginning of the Redskins’ Rivera era will feature a defense that can keep the team in games as the offense matures.

How free agency will influence the Redskins’ draft plans

As free agency continues in its third week and the draft looms in less than a month, Washington’s offense continues to be filled with questions. Unable to land a difference-making playmaker such as Cooper or Hooper, the Redskins still haven’t found a starting wide receiver to pair with Terry McLaurin, who had a breakout rookie season, or a tight end who can threaten the defense in the middle of the field. Nor has the question of the offensive line’s most important position — left tackle — been resolved, with Trent Williams demanding to be traded or released.

Rivera and Smith did add depth to the offensive line by signing interior linemen Authentic Wes Schweitzer Jersey and Authentic Jeremy Vujnovich Jersey, and they kept guard Brandon Scherff via the franchise tag. Tight end Logan Thomas is an intriguing reserve, and newly signed wideout Cody Latimer and tight end Richard Rodgers could provide depth and help on special teams.

But some of the players who will form the core of Rivera’s offense of the future are likely to join the team through the draft. The good news for Washington is that this is a deep draft for wide receivers, meaning the Redskins can find a potential starter in the third round or even later. Likewise, they should be able to get a contributor at tight end with their third-round pick or one of the two they have in the fourth round, should they choose to go in that direction.

It all means Washington could experience some growing pains on offense this season, given that the team will be young at quarterback as well.

During a recent appearance on Charlotte radio station WFNZ, Rivera said he did not pursue Newton — his star quarterback and 2011 No. 1 pick by Carolina — and made clear something he has hinted at in recent weeks: He wants to start Haskins this year and hopefully build around him. When asked on the show whether last week’s trade for Allen, a former Panthers quarterback who is far less of a threat to Haskins’s starting role than Newton would be, meant Haskins is the No. 1 quarterback, Rivera replied, “That’s what we’re going into camp believing, but they’re going to compete.”

Haskins’s improvement at the end of last season offers some hope that, along with what could be an impressive defense, the Redskins should be able to field a competitive team this year. But the franchise’s ultimate success depends on how fast Haskins grows and the team’s young playmakers bond with him.

Rivera and Smith have added two running backs, J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber, who give Washington depth if Derrius Guice or Bryce Love remain injury questions. McKissic, who has often lined up as a wide receiver in his career, could be the kind of versatile player Rivera likes and might be counted upon to contribute heavily as the younger players develop.

Eventually Washington’s offense under Rivera will take shape, and the Redskins will figure out who their left tackle will be, who will start at wide receiver along with McLaurin, and who will be the top tight end. Some of those answers might come within a month. But once Cooper and Hooper said no, it became clear the Redskins’ offense probably will take time to grow.

The Washington Redskins don’t have much depth at the tackle position. Thus, it’s good news that Donald Penn is reportedly open to returning to them.

Last season, the offensive tackle position was looking like a disaster for the Redskins before the season started. Authentic Trent Williams Jersey was holding out. Authentic Geron Christian Jersey was getting manhandled in practice and wasn’t showing much growth heading into his second year. And Ereck Flowers, who the team had signed to play left guard, had to serve as the starting left tackle at times during training camp because of Williams’ absence and an injury to Christian.

Once it became apparent that Williams’ holdout was legit, the Redskins decided to take action to upgrade the tackle position. They signed Donald Penn to a one-year deal to help man the left tackle position and push Flowers back inside to guard.

Penn ended up being the starting left tackle for the Redskins for almost the whole season. He played in 16 games, started 15 of them, and was solid enough for the team despite being 36 years old. He obviously wasn’t a long-term fix. But he did what he could to keep Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins clean.

With Penn hitting free agency this offseason, there was some thought that he may not return to the Redskins because of his age. But as ESPN’s Josina Anderson is reporting, Penn is open to the possibility of suiting up for Washington and doesn’t want to retire this offseason.

Meanwhile, I also spoke to free agent tackle Donald Penn last night. He told me he’s not planning to retire and he wants to play next season. He’s also open to returning to the Redskins as one possibility.

This is good news for the Redskins. They are currently weak at tackle, again, as Williams wants to be traded while Christian isn’t close to ready to start. And let’s not forget that Authentic Morgan Moses Jersey is coming off a down year too, so he could use some competition as well.

Penn would at least give them a stopgap option who could either start in Washington or serve as a swing tackle, depending on what the team does at the offensive tackle position in the 2020 NFL Draft. This year’s draft class is loaded at the tackle position, so the ‘Skins will almost certainly add one. But keeping Penn in addition to adding a rookie may be their best course of action, as that would at least ensure they have enough veteran depth to keep Haskins clean in his all-important second season.

There are some better tackle options than Penn available on the open market. Notably, Cordy Glenn and Kelvin Beachum, two veterans in their early 30s, could perfectly fill the need the Redskins have at left tackle. But if they want to keep continuity, Penn could garner some consideration, especially if Glenn or Beachum is looking for more money.

It will be worth watching what the Redskins do at offensive tackle. They only really have Christian, Moses, and a couple of unproven players (Authentic Timon Parris Jersey and Authentic Paul Adams Jersey) rounding out the position if you exclude Williams. They should add another veteran player at the position this offseason. Whether that’s Penn, Glenn, Beachum, or someone else, expect the ‘Skins to check out some tackles soon.

Cheap Redskins Caleb Wilson Jersey Outlet

The Washington Redskins reached an agreement to sign ex-Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas, a person with knowledge of the move said Thursday. Thomas, a fourth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2014, switched positions to tight end two years later and has been a part-time starting tight end in Buffalo and Detroit the last two seasons.

The Redskins are in desperate need of tight ends after Jordan Reed was released and Vernon Davis retired. They did not sign any of the top tight ends on the free agent market like the Atlanta Falcons’ Austin Hooper or Green Bay Packers’ Jimmy Graham. They currently have four tight ends on the roster — Authentic Jeremy Sprinkle Jersey, Matt Henges, Authentic Caleb Wilson Jersey and Authentic Marcus Baugh Jersey — but none are seen as front line starters.

The Redskins also upgraded their offensive line depth by agreeing to terms with veteran tackle Cornelius Lucas, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation. The deal is reportedly for two years and $5.3 million. Lucas, 28, has mostly played right tackle since entering the league as an undrafted free-agent in 2014.

Thomas, 28, could be an intriguing signing for Washington. At 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, he has the size to be the kind of pass-catching threat Ron Rivera is looking for in an offense that has relied upon tight ends in the past. Though Thomas has only caught 35 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns in his three seasons as an active tight end, he is still new to the position and showed some glimpses of potential toward the end of last season when injuries kept the Lions other tight ends off the field.

His lone touchdown last year came Nov. 24 at FedEx Field, during Detroit’s 19-16 loss to the Redskins.

In college, Thomas was a dual threat quarterback who threw for 9,003 yards and 52 touchdowns and ran for 1,359 yards and 24 touchdowns as a three-year starter. As a rookie in Arizona, he played in part of one game, throwing an 81-yard touchdown pass on his first NFL throw while replacing an injured Drew Stanton. It was his only professional touchdown pass.

In Lucas, the Redskins added depth to their offensive line. The New Orleans native was the Chicago Bears’ swing tackle last season and played mostly right guard. He held his own when afforded the chance, like during a Week 3 start at right tackle in which Lucas had no penalties in his 480 snaps last season, according to Sports Info Solutions. After going undrafted, Lucas spent two years with the Detroit Lions, one with the Los Angeles Rams, days with the New Orleans Saints and one season with the Bears.

Lucas and Thomas fit a pattern of signings Rivera has agreed to make so far in free agency, adding solid, experienced, low-cost players, many of whom can play multiple positions — a group that includes cornerback Authentic Kendall Fuller Jersey, linebackers Authentic Jon Bostic Jersey, Authentic Kevin Pierre-Louis Jersey and Authentic Thomas Davis Jersey, safety Authentic Sean Davis Jersey and guard Authentic Wes Schweitzer Jersey.

Cheap Womens Redskins Richard Rodgers Jersey

The Washington Redskins came into free agency in pretty desperate need of a tight end. They had released long-time starter Jordan Reed, and Vernon Davis had retired.

Many had them linked to superstar Austin Hooper though, so their problems could be solved.

Washington did not get Hooper, however. Instead, the Redskins signed Authentic Richard Rodgers Jersey and Authentic Logan Thomas Jersey.

And according to Zachary Neel of Redskinswire.com, former tight end Chris Cooley wasn’t really impressed.

“I actually watched a lot of Logan Thomas this last year,” Cooley said. “He makes some athletic plays, and he does some things where you say ‘huh.’ But, he’s really average, and stiffer than you might think he would be. He’s just a guy; he’s a 2 TE. They need a starter.”

To be fair to Cooley, a lot of people probably think this way. It’s not like he’s bashing Thomas, he’s just pointing out that the Redskins still need a starter.

Last season, Thomas appeared in 16 games for the Detroit Lions. In those 16 games, he collected 16 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown. Not exactly anything to get excited over.

Thomas definitely has his upside. He’s athletic with a great frame (6’6″, 250 lbs). But the numbers haven’t done anything to wow anybody just yet.

With the way the offseason has gone for the Redskins, you’d have to expect they’ll be looking for a tight end in the draft.

If they aren’t, then they would be heading into 2020 without any serious changes in the passing game for quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

They’ve signed two tight ends that would likely serve as Jeremy Sprinkles’ backup (who started last season while Reed and Davis were injured) and Authentic Cody Latimer Jersey, who would be the fourth-receiver at best for Washington.

2019 was the best statistical season of Thomas’ career. Can he prove Cooley wrong and become the starter? Or do the Redskins have other plans?

Cheap Redskins Hale Hentges Jersey Supply

Delanie Walker is one of the most productive veteran tight ends available on the open market. And the Redskins are reportedly among the teams interested in him.
There’s no question that the Washington Redskins need help at the tight end position. Jordan Reed didn’t play last year after suffering a concussion and was cut after an injury-prone career in Washington. Meanwhile, Vernon Davis retired from the Redskins after also struggling to stay healthy in 2019.

Without those two, the Redskins tight end depth chart is currently headlined by Authentic Jeremy Sprinkle Jersey and Authentic Hale Hentges Jersey. Both players have flashed upside, but they appear to be backup options at the very best.

As a result, the Redskins should be searching for an upgrade at the tight end position. After all, giving Authentic Dwayne Haskins Jersey a middle of the field target could really improve the squad’s offense. So, it should come as no surprise that the Redskins are interested in one of the more productive tight ends on the open market.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, the Redskins are among the teams interested in former Tennessee Titans tight end, Delanie Walker.

Walker, 35, has been in the NFL since being a sixth-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft. After spending the first seven years of his career as a primary backup, he joined the Titans and became one of the league’s best all-around players at the position.

Walker was a middle of the field threat and a reception machine for the litany of quarterbacks the Titans trotted out over the years. From 2014 to 2017, he saw at least 102 targets and totaled at least 800 receiving yards every season. He was a consistent pass catcher and an excellent blocker for the team and made three straight Pro Bowls as a result of his all-around ability.

In the past two seasons, however, Walker has been unable to stay healthy for the Titans. He played in just eight total games and while he was productive in 2019, it’s fair to wonder if he will be able to continue to stay healthy for the team he suits up for in 2020.

However, Walker is still one of the better players available at the tight end position on the open market. Both Eric Ebron and Jacob Hollister are better, young options than him, but if Walker comes at a discount, he could be a nice stopgap option for the Redskins, who are starved for tight end talent.

In an ideal world, the Redskins could target one of Ebron and Hollister and still have a chance to land Walker as inexpensive veteran depth. Or, they could sign Walker cheaply and then address tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft. The tight end draft class is very weak, so that may be hard to do, but perhaps Walker could mentor the young option and help him to improve.

No matter what, the Redskins interest in Walker makes sense. He’s not a long-term option for the squad, but on a one-year deal, he could provide the team with veteran leadership and a consistent option at tight end, if he can stay healthy. That said, it seems probable that Walker would be more likely to sign with a contender like the Packers or Colts, two teams that Keim mentioned, so the Redskins may not have a chance to land him.

That may not be a bad thing, as it could force the Redskins to look for a younger upgrade on the free-agent market. But either way, the ‘Skins’ potential interest in Walker is worth watching.

Wholesale Authentic Redskins Emanuel Hall Jersey

The Washington Redskins have signed Authentic Cody Latimer Jersey. The six-year veteran will provide experience in the team’s young receiving corps.

One of the clear goals of the Washington Redskins offseason was to add some veteran depth to their receiver corps. They have some good young talents in Authentic Terry McLaurin Jersey, Authentic Steven Sims Jersey, and Authentic Kelvin Harmon Jersey, among others, but the thing that they were lacking was a proven veteran who could provide depth or another starting option for the team.

After the Redskins missed out on Amari Cooper, they decided to take the bargain-bin approach at most positions in free agency. And that should include their latest signing in the receiving corps.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Redskins have agreed to a deal with Cody Latimer. The veteran had previously been a member of the Denver Broncos and New York Giants.

— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 26, 2020

Latimer is a fine get. He’s an experienced veteran who has been in the league for six years but is still relatively young. He’ll turn 28 in October and should be a solid depth piece for the Redskins.

Latimer was a second-round pick out of Indiana in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he hasn’t quite lived up to that billing. He had his best season last year with the Giants starting 10 of the 15 games he played and catching 24 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns. All of those numbers set or matched career highs.

The most intriguing skill that Latimer has is his strong 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame. He has great physicality and strength and is good at making contested catches. That said, he can also serve as a bit of a downfield playmaker; he has averaged 14.4 yards per catch over the course of the past three seasons despite only having a long reception of 43 yards over that span.

It’s possible that the Redskins see some untapped potential in Latimer. But either way, he’s a rock-solid option for a backup receiver spot and he did average 23.8 yards per return on 26 kick returns last season. So, that’s added value that he can contribute on special teams.

NEXT: Redskins first-round options – OT Tristan Wirfs
Signing Latimer won’t preclude the team from adding another young receiver in a receiver-rich draft class. But he will provide a veteran presence in that receivers room and will challenge some other back-end roster options like Authentic Cam Sims Jersey, Authentic Darvin Kidsy Jersey, and Authentic Emanuel Hall Jersey for a spot on the team. And it’s possible that Latimer will find a role in the ‘Skins offense in 2020.

Cheap Official Redskins J.D. McKissic Jersey

According to reports, the Washington Redskins agreed to terms with running back Authentic J.D. McKissic Jersey.

McKissic (5-10, 195) is entering his fifth NFL season after originally being signed as an undrafted free agent in by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. He has appeared in 35 games with four starts and has rushed for 402 yards on 88 attempts with one rushing touchdown. McKissic has also registered 70 receptions for 515 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2019, McKissic appeared in a single season career-high 16 contests and made three starts while registering single season career-highs in rushing yards (205), rushing average (5.4 avg.), and receptions (34).

McKissic has appeared in three postseason contests and hauled in three receptions for 18 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown reception against Dallas in the Wild Card Round of the 2018 postseason.

McKissic played collegiately at Arkansas State where he appeared in 50 career games and was a three-time Sun Belt All-Conference selection.

McKissic, 26, attended Central H.S. in Phenix City, Ala. He was born August 15, 1993.
